8 Clinical Rules Routed to the Right Provider
When the dental chair lights up; the PCP should already know.
Eight prebuilt correlation rules watch the intersection of dental findings and medical context: periodontal-diabetes, dental abscess-cardiac, periodontal-pregnancy, xerostomia-medication, oral lesion-biopsy, missing dentition-nutrition, bruxism-sleep apnea, and periodontal-surgical clearance. When a rule fires, the alert is routed to the relevant provider type (PCP, cardiologist, OB, dentist, care manager) with a full clinical brief.
Periodontal-diabetes, abscess-cardiac, periodontal-pregnancy, xerostomia-med, oral lesion-biopsy, missing-dentition-nutrition, bruxism-apnea, perio-surgical clearance.
Each alert is routed to the correct provider type; PCP for diabetes, cardiologist for abscess-cardiac, OB for pregnancy; not just logged.
Alerts can be bundled into a pre-visit brief so the physician walks into the next appointment already informed of the dental finding.
Recipients acknowledge or dismiss with documented reason. Follow-up required can flag the alert for tracking to resolution.
A new dental record (periodontal chart, pathology finding) or medical record (new diabetes Dx, new med) is ingested.
The 8 correlation rules are evaluated against the new record and the patient's existing dental + medical context.
Fired alert is routed to the appropriate provider type with dental findings, medical context, and recommended next step.
Provider acknowledges with notes, dismisses with reason, or escalates for follow-up. Full audit trail retained.
“A dental abscess alert reached the cardiologist before the patient's next cardiology appointment. It changed the medication review and probably avoided a hospitalization.”
